The spirit of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine (not The Ukraine)

2 min readAug 29, 2025

The Kyiv Of Mine documentary film series went live last week Sunday on Ukraine’s Independence Day. From the comments/feedback received so far the feeling is positive. We are all hoping that this work will make a difference and stimulate some new interest and support for Ukraine. For all the help and love that Ukraine receives since the start of the full scale Russian invasion it is simply not nearly enough. Everyone in Ukraine appreciates all the support they get, but they need much much more.

The strike on Ukraine on Wednesday night was another act of evil terrorism by its insane neighbour. It is just like when the full scale war started, over 3 years ago. Nothing has changed. And the world just watches. Sure, lots of politicians condemn it and make statements, but it is all just blah blah blah. Words don’t stop bombs and missiles. We need to see real action. The world leaders need to step up in a big way, and stop talking so much.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50XJiEn8ViQ — please have a look at this. This is the spirit of Kyiv — pure inspiration.

With all the pain, all the trauma, all the devastation, I have never met any victims in Kyiv. No one is sitting in the corner feeling sorry for themselves.

There are no victims in Ukraine — only free spirits that embrace life.

Please support our work. This is a non-profit project which is trying to elevate global conversations about Ukraine. Ukraine deserves better.

If more people around the world fell in love with Kyiv, and the rest of Ukraine, then perhaps, just maybe, the struggle would lessen. Everything in the war feels like an uphill battle for Ukraine. Yes, maybe a different narrative may bring something different to the table. Something fresh and positive. Here’s hoping.
